Beginning and end of day routines:
At Christina Gordon, your child’s safety is our primary concern. As such it is extremely important that parents fully understand when supervision is provided for your child before and after class, so that we ensure that there is never a time when children are unsupervised. We provide you with this information so that you can arrange your drop off and pick up times accordingly. Rest assured that at all times when your child in in school, including at recess and lunch times, your child is well supervised.
ECDP and Kindergarten:
8:35 – Parents and children meet teachers in atrium (not at classroom door) (AM class)
8:45 - Classes begin for AM ECDP and Kdg.
11:35 – Parents meet children in atrium (AM Class)
12:15 – Parents and children meet teachers in atrium (not at classroom door) (PM class)
12:25 - Classes begin for PM ECDP and Kdg.
3:15 – Parents meet children in atrium (PM Class)
ECDP and Kindergarten students will continue to arrive and be picked up through our main doors in the atrium. Parents should bring their child in through those doors and await the teacher in the atrium at the start and end of the session. We would ask that parents not bring their children to the classroom at the beginning of the session or pick them up at the classroom. Sheer numbers of children, and the fact that there are six other grades 1-3 classes in that corridor carrying on regular instruction at that time make it distracting to have large numbers of parents in that area.
8:25 – Supervision starts in playground area and at main entrance (Based on weather conditions, some mornings will be considered “Indoor” mornings, and supervision will be provided inside the school instead of on the playground from 8:25 – 8:40)
8:40 – Bell rings – students proceed to their door to enter school (In most cases, teachers will ask students to line up by grade to enter the school)
8:45 – Classes begin. Students arriving after 8:45 should proceed to main office for a late stick
3:15 – Classes end. Supervision provided at rear of school and front of school to ensure students safely leave school grounds (There is NO supervision on the playground at that time. Students are expected to leave school grounds at that time
Students from grades 1-6 have each been assigned a door for entrance and departure. They will use this door at for arrival and departure at normal times. Students who arrive late or are signed out early will always check in at the main office.
Morning supervision is provided in the playground area starting at 8:25 with the doors opening for entry at 8:40. Students who arrive between 8:25 and 8:40 should proceed to the playground until the doors open. If students are being supervised by a parent they may wait by their entrance doors until doors open at 8:40. Otherwise the only area where we can provide supervision at that time is in the playground area. Students arriving after 8:45 must check in at the main office for a late stick.
Afternoon supervision is provided at the rear of the school from 3:15 – 3:30. Please note that there is no playground supervision at this time and students will be expected to go directly home at the end of the day unless they are attending after school clubs or activities. If they are supervised by a parent, students may stay on the playground, otherwise they will be asked by the supervisor to proceed directly home.
