Please see the following email, shared earlier this evening: Good evening, Thank you once again for your patience as we work together to adjust to these changes. Today Snicket and I read, "Jamie O'Rourke and the Big Potato" by Tomie dePaola (one of Ms. Barrington's favourite authors) in honour of St. Patrick's Day. I also have an update for all of you about collecting students belongings. We understand that at this uncertain time, it may provide comfort for your child(ren) to have their personal belongings with them at home. We are making arrangements to allow families to pick up their own child(ren)'s personal items that may have been left here at the school. Please understand that we are required to limit the number of people in the building at a time and we thank you in advance for your patience, if you are asked to wait when you arrive. Below are the designated times for personal item retrieval based on family last name: For family names beginning with letters A to J: Pick up will occur on Thursday March 19th between the hours of 10am and 1:30pm. For family names beginning with letters K to Z: Pick up will occur on Friday March 20th between the hours of 10am and 1:30pm. **If you are unable to attend during these designated times, please contact the school to make arrangements to pick up personal belongings next week. Please know that there is no requirement to retrieve personal belongings. We are providing this as an option for families should they like to do so. No materials that belong to the school (textbooks or technology) will be permitted to be taken home at this time. It is also important to note that family members who are unwell (displaying flu/cold symptoms) should not be visiting the school to pick up personal items. We hope you are keeping well and taking care of yourselves. It is our commitment to continue to provide you with the most up to date information we can as we work through what these class cancellations mean for our school division, and you, our CG families. Without a doubt, there will be more information to come, - Ashley Barrington, Grade 3 Teacher

First, a reminder that tomorrow and Thursday, March 11th and 12th, are our Three Way Conferences. Parents/guardians should set up appointments online to meet with classroom teachers. Report cards for Grades 1-6 will be sent home at a later date (at the end of Term 2 at the end of March). At Christina Gordon Public School we believe that early communication with parents/guardians and children to discuss the child's progress is vital, which is why these meetings are set up before report cards are sent home. In doing so, parents/guardians and students are able to have a discussion prior to the report card going home. This allows changes to be made where necessary to ensure the student's success. This is a more proactive approach than simply reacting to the report card. We believe there is much benefit in both the parent/guardian and student sitting down and having these discussions, which is why we have three-way conferences intended to involve all parents/guardians, students, and teachers, instead of a traditional parent-teacher interview. Please bring your student to these three-way conferences. To book an appointment for Grades 1-6 students, please go to the school website (http://christinagordon.fmpsdschools.ca/view.php?action=signin). If you have not already created an account, you will be asked to do so at that time. Please note, ECDP and Kindergarten three-way conferences will be held on different dates. Second, this week we have our second Scholastic Book Fair available to students and families. Students are able to visit the Book Fair from Tuesday-Thursday this week from 10:00-11:20 am as well as during our morning recess. The Book Fair will also be open during our Three Way Conferences Wednesday and Thursday night for families. Scholastic does provide a portion of the proceeds from the Book Fair to our school; it goes to our school library and literacy resources. Third, the Christina Gordon Public School Talent Show is coming up. The Talent Show will be held on April 3rd at 1:15 pm in the school gymnasium. To prepare, auditions will be held next week as follows:
Finally, we have noticed a significant number of fire lane violations recently that cause concern should an emergency vehicle need to access the school. Safety of our students is our number one priority. It is important to note that RMWB Bylaw 7.27 states, "Except for emergency vehicles, no person shall park or stop or permit to be parked or stopped, a vehicle on any highway, public place or private property in space posted as a fire lane." As this is a potential safety hazard, it is imperative that this law is followed at all times. Thank you for your cooperation in this very important matter. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns in regards to any of the above, Ashley Barrington, Grade 3 Teacher Agenda - Jr. Tech: Mondays, 3:15-4:15 pm - Sr. Choir: Tuesdays, 3:15-4:15 pm - Sign Language Club: CANCELLED - Hot Lunch Program: Tuesdays, Thursdays - Book Fair: Tuesday-Thursday - Three-Way Conferences: March 11-12th (book online) - Talent Show Auditions: Monday, March 16th (see below) - Kindergarten Open House: March 19-20th - Term 2 Report Cards: March 26th - March Book Orders: due March 26th - Aladdin Jr. Field Trip: April 1st ($7 per student) - Talent Show: April 3rd Agenda - Jr. Tech: Mondays, 3:15-4:15 pm - Sr. Choir: Tuesdays, 3:15-4:15 pm - Sign Language Club: CANCELLED - Hot Lunch Program: Tuesdays, Thursdays - Book Fair: Tuesday-Thursday - Three-Way Conferences: March 11-12th (book online) - Talent Show Auditions: Monday, March 16th (see below) - Kindergarten Open House: March 19-20th - Term 2 Report Cards: March 26th - March Book Orders: due March 26th - Aladdin Jr. Field Trip: April 1st ($7 per student) - Talent Show: April 3rd Agenda - Jr. Tech: Mondays, 3:15-4:15 pm - Sr. Choir: Tuesdays, 3:15-4:15 pm - Sign Language Club: Wednesdays, 3:15-4:15 pm - Hot Lunch Program: Tuesdays, Thursdays - Three-Way Conferences: March 11-12th (book online) - Talent Show Auditions: Monday, March 16th (see below) - Kindergarten Open House: March 19-20th - Term 2 Report Cards: March 26th Agenda - Jr. Tech: Mondays, 3:15-4:15 pm - Sr. Choir: Tuesdays, 3:15-4:15 pm - Sign Language Club: Wednesdays, 3:15-4:15 pm - Hot Lunch Program: Tuesdays, Thursdays - School Science Fair: March 6th - Fri-yay Popcorn Day: March 6th ($2/bag) - Gr. 3 Friday Show and Share: March 6th - ECDP Open House: March 5-6th - Three-Way Conferences: March 11-12th (book online) - Talent Show Auditions: Monday, March 16th (see below) - Kindergarten Open House: March 19-20th - Term 2 Report Cards: March 26th Please see the following email, shared earlier this evening: Good evening, Just a few updates for the upcoming weeks. First, a reminder that tomorrow, March 3rd, will be the date of our classroom Science Fair. Completing a Science Fair project is an optional opportunity for students in Grs. 2-3; students do not have to complete a project. Students will be setting their projects up in our classroom at approximately 11:30 am tomorrow morning. Students will then be able to share with their classmates and other students from 11:45-12:30 pm. Parents are welcome to join us if they wish to do so. Just make sure to sign in at the office. On Wednesday I will let students (and families) know which projects have been selected to move forward to the school-wide Science Fair this Friday. Unfortunately, we can only select 3 projects from each class. The students and I have already discussed this. If your student is selected to move forward, I will provide you with further details on Wednesday. Second, three-way conferences for Grs. 1-6 are scheduled for March 11th and 12th. Thirdy, the Board of Trustees has approved the 2020/2021 Division Academic Calendar. We know that many families rely on the calendar to plan for the upcoming year. You can find the PDF version on the division website as well as attached in this email. Please note, the first day of school following the summer break will be Monday, August 31st, 2020. ECDP will begin on Tuesday, September 8th, 2020. The last day for students will be on Thursday, June 24th, 2021. Finally, a few families have inquired into hot lunch ordering. Orders must be made online to ensure accuracy and to make the process as easy for everyone as possible. Any unpaid orders will be cancelled after this deadline. The Hot Lunch Program is only available for students through Grs. 1-6. The Fundraising Association are only able to accept hot lunch order payments through PayPal (www.paypal.com). No cheque or cash payments will be accepted at any time. You may pay with a credit card as a PayPal guest (Visa, Mastercard, or Amex) or set up your own PayPal account. Please Note: should you experience any issues with your PayPal account, you must contact PayPal directly to solve the issue. To place a hot lunch order:
