Grade 3B Info., Updates, News

Wait until you see what we've been up to...

October 12th, 2016

10/12/2016

Today in Math we started working on our strategies for our 3x and 6x tables. For these times tables, we are practicing using counting on as a strategy as well as using doubling.

Remember, it is important to practice your multiplication tables at home every day. We are practicing at school but you need to practice to master all of your Math facts. There are lots of resources under "Fact Practice" on the "Math" page. Practice, practice, practice.

In Language Arts today, we worked on editing our paragraphs that we have been working on writing. You can see my example below:

Students will be completing a second draft of their paragraphs to be further edited either by me or a peer (it will depend on the week) before we publish their paragraphs. Stay tuned for more information!

We also went on a Noun Hunt today. Using some Halloween themed picture books that we selected from the classroom library, students were challenged to find and categorize as many nouns (person, place, thing/idea, Proper Noun) as they could. Everyone did a wonderful job! Watch out though, a few of us were listing some verbs in our idea section! We'll have to keep reviewing and practicing.

In Art today we discussed warm and cool colours. The cool colours are typically found on the left of the colour wheel. They include blues, greens, and purples. The warm colours are typically found on the right of the colour wheel. They include reds, oranges, and yellows. Using warm and cool colours to create some contrast, we are making these winter inspired pictures. These pictures are going to be changed into cards that can be purchased as part of an upcoming school fundraiser. I am really looking forward to seeing the final results!
