Welcome back! Today we were fortunate enough to take part in the "Money Matters" from Junior Achievement thanks to some volunteers from RBC as well as Suncor. This presentation is about teaching students how to earn and manage their own money from a young age and is meant to encourage students to be entrepreneurs as well as smart consumers. Today students explored creating their own businesses (eg. walking dogs, mowing lawns), considered the costs, how they would price their business, etc. and kept track of their deposits and withdrawals as part of some fun board games. You can learn more about Junior Achievement at http://www.janorthalberta.org/.

We also welcomed Ms. Proudfoot to our class today! She is a student teacher from the University of Victoria that will be working in our classroom for the next 6 weeks. I know we are all going to work hard to make sure that she feels welcome at Christina Gordon School and that that she learns a lot that she can use to further her education in the teaching profession.
