Please see the following email, shared by Ms. Barrington earlier this evening:

Good evening,

Just a few updates on events and activities taking place at school over the next few weeks. First, a reminder that the Division 1 (Grades 1-3) Christmas Concert will be taking place on December 12th at 6:00 pm. The doors will open at approximately 5:30 pm. Students are asked to meet their teachers in their classrooms to await their performance time. Students in Grade 3B are welcome to wear sunglasses as part of our performance. We do ask that all families plan to attend the entire concert. It is very distracting and disruptive to have people leaving during the performance. Be respectful of the hardwork and dedication the students have put into preparing and rehearsing for this performance. At the end of the concert, families will come and pick up their student at their classrooms. Please let me know if your student will not be attending the concert. I will pass that information along to Mrs. Power to help with planning the event. Attached is a poster with all of the dates/times for all the concerts on it.

Second, a few students have been asking for further information on ordering from the Hot Lunch Program. Orders must be made online to ensure accuracy and to make the process as easy for everyone as possible. Orders for January need to be submitted by December 15th, 2019. Any unpaid orders will be cancelled after this deadline. The Hot Lunch Program is only available for students through Grs. 1-6. The Fundraising Association are only able to accept hot lunch order payments through PayPal (www.paypal.com). No cheque or cash payments will be accepted at any time. You may pay with a credit card as a PayPal guest (Visa, Mastercard, or Amex) or set up your own PayPal account. Please Note: should you experience any issues with your PayPal account, you must contact PayPal directly to solve the issue. To place a hot lunch order:

  1. Go to christinagordon.hotlunches.net.
  2. Click on "Click Here to Register."
  3. Enter Access Code CGHL
  4. Complete the rest of the registration form; including your email address will ensure you receive reminder emails about hot lunch order deadlines and your student's hot lunch order for the upcoming week.
  5. Click the "Register Now" button at the bottom.
  6. Follow the instructions to add each student in your family who attends Christina Gordon (Grs. 1-6). Once your student(s) are registered click on "Orders."
  7. Proceed to order hot lunch for your student.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Hot Lunch Program, contact Jen Hoilund (Fundraising Association President). You can also follow the Fundraising Association on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=christina%20gordon%20school%20fundraising%20association&epa=SEARCH_BOX.

Third, a reminder about our Salvation Army Angel Tree located in the atrium at Christina Gordon School. On this tree are Angel Tags. Each tag represents a local child in need
during this season. The tag will indicate the gender of the child, their age, their size and provide some ideas for gifts that the child would like receive. If you would like to help out with this project please take a tag, purchase a gift for that specific child, and place it, unwrapped, in a gift bag with the angel tag tied or taped to the front of the bag. Please bring or send the gift back to
Christina Gordon School and place it under the Angel Tree, they will then be hand delivered to the Salvation Army and given to those specific children. Tags will only be available until
tomorrow, December 6th. The gifts must be returned to the school by December 10th
at the latest to be delivered in a timely manner.

Finally, our school will be hosting a Holiday Spirit Week, which will run from December 16-19th (the last week of school). The theme days are as follows:

  • Monday - Holiday Hat Day
  • Tuesday - Red & Green Day
  • Wednesday - Ugly Sweater Day
  • Thursday - PJ Day

Students do not have to donate in order to participate. This Spirit Week is just to get us all in the holiday spirit! As part of the Spirit Week, we will also be having our fourth annual CG Recyclers Door Decorating Contest. Our class has already begun to plan our door decorations for the contest. We are hoping to build a gingerbread house, but need a few materials in order to make our plans a reality. We are looking for the following items: small boxes (ie. cereal, granola bars, etc.), containers and lids, plastic water bottles and lids, pop cans, toilet paper rolls, and clean wrappers. If you are able to donate any of the following items we would appreciate it. They can be sent to school any day this week or next week. Stay tuned for more information on our Healthy Classroom Celebration, which will take place on Thursday, December 19th.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns in regards to any of the above,
