Today in Math, the Grade 5 students continued to practice multiplying multi-digit numbers. We reviewed the partial products strategy that we learned last week as well as the steps for multi-digit multiplication, which we are calling short multiplication. Please make sure that you take your time and continue to practice and learn these steps. We will be continuing to work on this skill tomorrow in class.

The Grade 4 students are continuing to work on a variety of multiplication strategies such as: drawing arrays, counting up, skip counting, doubling, or using known facts. We will be moving on to recognizing patterns in multiplication tomorrow before looking at the relationship between multiplication and division. Make sure that all the Grade 4 and Grade 5 students continue to practice your multiplication tables nightly at home. You will only improve if you keep practicing!

You can see above that today we finished watching the "7 Habits of Happy Kids Videos" that we have been studying as a class as a way to review our 7 Habits. Today the students were asked to consider: Which video is your favourite? What did you learn from the video? We used a strategy called, "Milling to Music" to share our answers with our classmates this morning. This afternoon, we took the time to film a short video response to these questions on our very first Flipgrid topic. These are a great way to allow students to each share a response and to give their opinion on a topic. Check out some of the video responses by clicking on the embedded topic above.

In Health today, we began planning our "Best Part of Me" projects. Students had some really interesting choices. I can't wait to type our responses and to have some of our Tech & Trades students take some photographs for us.
