Today in Math the students continued to review Whole Numbers. Today we used our Mathletics accounts to do so. Did you know that you can complete practice work at home that is aligned with all of our units through students Mathletics? It is a great way to get in extra practice. I typically assign several activities to students throughout the unit that they can then complete at school during Math Centre time or at home. Check it out at home.

We also watched "The BFG" today. We finished reading this book by Roald Dahl awhile ago, however, we hadn't had the opportunity to watch it yet. It was nice to be able to do so today. There were a lot of differences between the book and the movie (as there usually is), but we still enjoyed it a lot.

Congratulations to Teona and Aayan. There poems inspired by Canada's national parks were selected by the Regional Municipality as winners in the "Words in Motion" contest. Be on the lookout for Teona and Aayan's poems on Wood Buffalo transit buses and shelters in the near future.

Have a great break! I'll see you all in March!

Ms.B,I was just wondering about the train tour through well Canada and in my region I understand what to do but I was wondering if I can do it on a slide instead of the paper you gave me?

Yes, you absolutely can! Sorry, I should have told you that. Seth is also choosing to do his using the Google Slides that I shared, rather than doing it on paper. Either option is fine. Remember, you only have to complete two slides as I have already received the majority of your groups research.

Ms.B what is a manipulated variable?

A manipulated variable is the variable that you change.

For example, if I wanted to know how many 1.5V batteries it takes to burn out a small light bulb, the amount of batteries I used each time would be the manipulated variable because I would be changing it. The responding variable would be how bright the light bulb got or whether the light bulb burnt out. Finally the light bulb that I was using, the type of batteries I was using, etc. are the controlled variables because I keep them the same each time.
