Please see the following email shared earlier today:

Good morning,

Just a few weekly updates to share with everyone. First, it is the final week of Team Canada Champion Chats. This is a program that students participated in throughout the school year in which Canadian Olympic and Paralympic athletes coach students on a variety of health and mental health topics. For students and families wishing to continue the program at home, they have created more online learning resources. This week students and families can watch a Live Chat with the Team Canada mentors, hosted by Tessa Virtue. Follow along to learn more about the athletes and participate in some fun activities. The link for the Live Chat is below, as well as the link to a survey. If you participated in any of the Team Canada Champion Chats activities, be sure to take it to get some free Team Canada swag!

Second, the next continuity plan will be shared this Friday at approximately 1:00 pm with students and families on Seesaw. As per previous weeks, I will also send a PDF version home in an email update. Attached are the continuity plans shared this past Friday with suggested activities that students and families can work on this week. As always, please do what is best for your family. The weekly continuity plans and any activities created and shared on Seesaw are meant to assist families, not provide any undo stress or worry. Below are some of the video links that have been shared to Seesaw since our last email update:

June 3rd - Read Aloud
June 4th - Read Aloud
June 5th - Read Aloud
June 5th - Estimating With Metres
June 8th - Read Aloud
June 8th - Multiplication Monday

Students are also always welcome to use Mathletics, Reading Eggs, or Raz Kids while working from home; to get some extra math and reading practice. If you need assistance with a student's account (ie. login information, passwords, etc.), please let me know. This upcoming Friday, April 12th, will be the last set of curriculum related activities that are released to families, as teachers prepare report cards. A final continuity plan with some fun, optional activities will be released on April 19th, which will be the last day for continuity plans.

Finally, this week we will be having another Google Meet as a class. This is of course, optional. No instruction (ie. lessons, etc.) will be given during Google Meets; it is just for students to reconnect with their peers and teachers. For this Google Meet, we will be completing a directed drawing activity together. Students will need paper and drawing materials (eg. markers, pencils, etc).

Our Google Meet will be held on Thursday, June 11th at 11:00 am.

The Fort McMurray Public School District has been working hard to make sure that Google Meets are secure and safe for students. To ensure Google Meets are being held within our secure network, students will need to login with their school assigned Google email and password. I shared this account information with each of you in a recent email, however, if you need your student's information again, please let me know well ahead of the scheduled Google Meet and I will provide it to you.

The meeting code/nickname to join our Google Meet will be shared with families through email and Seesaw about an hour before the Google Meet is to begin to keep the Google Meet as secure as possible. Here are some general instructions from FMPSD on how to join a Google Meet. Please make sure you have reviewed them well ahead of time so that you are aware of how to join the meet and set up your device in grid view.

Please keep in mind that this is new to all of us. I am learning to. We will work together to troubleshoot any complications that may occur. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Thursday. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns,

- Ashley Barrington, Grade 3 Teacher
