Please see the following email, shared earlier this evening:

Good evening,

Just a few updates for the upcoming weeks. First, a reminder that tomorrow, March 3rd, will be the date of our classroom Science Fair. Completing a Science Fair project is an optional opportunity for students in Grs. 2-3; students do not have to complete a project. Students will be setting their projects up in our classroom at approximately 11:30 am tomorrow morning. Students will then be able to share with their classmates and other students from 11:45-12:30 pm. Parents are welcome to join us if they wish to do so. Just make sure to sign in at the office. On Wednesday I will let students (and families) know which projects have been selected to move forward to the school-wide Science Fair this Friday. Unfortunately, we can only select 3 projects from each class. The students and I have already discussed this. If your student is selected to move forward, I will provide you with further details on Wednesday.

Second, three-way conferences for Grs. 1-6 are scheduled for March 11th and 12th. Parents/guardians should set up appointments online to meet with classroom teachers. Report cards for Grades 1-6 will be sent home at a later date (at the end of Term 2 at the end of March). At Christina Gordon Public School we believe that early communication with parents/guardians and children to discuss the child's progress is vital, which is why these meetings are set up before report cards are sent home. In doing so, parents/guardians and students are able to have a discussion prior to the report card going home. This allows changes to be made where necessary to ensure the student's success. This is a more proactive approach than simply reacting to the report card. We believe there is much benefit in both the parent/guardian and student sitting down and having these discussions, which is why we have three-way conferences intended to involve all parents/guardians, students, and teachers, instead of a traditional parent-teacher interview. Please bring your student to these three-way conferences. To book an appointment for Grades 1-6 students, please go to the school website (http://christinagordon.fmpsdschools.ca/view.php?action=signin). If you have not already created an account, you will be asked to do so at that time. Please note, ECDP and Kindergarten three-way conferences will be held on different dates.

Thirdy, the Board of Trustees has approved the 2020/2021 Division Academic Calendar. We know that many families rely on the calendar to plan for the upcoming year. You can find the PDF version on the division website as well as attached in this email. Please note, the first day of school following the summer break will be Monday, August 31st, 2020. ECDP will begin on Tuesday, September 8th, 2020. The last day for students will be on Thursday, June 24th, 2021.

Finally, a few families have inquired into hot lunch ordering. Orders must be made online to ensure accuracy and to make the process as easy for everyone as possible. Any unpaid orders will be cancelled after this deadline. The Hot Lunch Program is only available for students through Grs. 1-6. The Fundraising Association are only able to accept hot lunch order payments through PayPal (www.paypal.com). No cheque or cash payments will be accepted at any time. You may pay with a credit card as a PayPal guest (Visa, Mastercard, or Amex) or set up your own PayPal account. Please Note: should you experience any issues with your PayPal account, you must contact PayPal directly to solve the issue. To place a hot lunch order:

  1. Go to christinagordon.hotlunches.net.
  2. Click on "Click Here to Register."
  3. Enter Access Code CGHL
  4. Complete the rest of the registration form; including your email address will ensure you receive reminder emails about hot lunch order deadlines and your student's hot lunch order for the upcoming week.
  5. Click the "Register Now" button at the bottom.
  6. Follow the instructions to add each student in your family who attends Christina Gordon (Grs. 1-6). Once your student(s) are registered click on "Orders."
  7. Proceed to order hot lunch for your student.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Hot Lunch Program, contact Jen Hoilund (Fundraising Association President). You can also follow the Fundraising Association on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=christina%20gordon%20school%20fundraising%20association&epa=SEARCH_BOX.
