Sorry for the lack of posts this week everyone! It has been very busy around here.

In Math today we learned more about measuring the capacity of containers, etc. using the units of milliliters and liters. Students have learned to convert milliliters to liters and to estimate the capacity of different sizes and shapes of containers. We will be moving on next week with other ways that you can measure volume.

In Science today we learned about acids, bases, and chemical reactions. Did you know that when you mix acids and bases you can get a chemical reaction? For example, vinegar (acid) and baking soda (base). There are different ways that we can observe whether or not a chemical reaction is taking place such as producing a gas, an odour, changing colour, forming a precipitate (eg. salt), producing heat, noise, etc. Use the example of mixing vinegar and baking soda from above. We know a chemical reaction takes place because it bubbles - a gas is produced. We will continue to learn about both acids and bases and chemical reactions next week.

In Language Arts we are working on completing, editing, and drafting our stories (narratives). Keep an eye on the student blogs to see if they are posted next week!
