Students will all be bringing home a progress report tonight. This report is based on our initial learning, and is not intended to be used as a report card. Instead, it is meant to identify to students and parents areas of strength and areas of need. Students have been asked to review their progress reports with a parent/guardian this evening, and to return the signed progress report to school tomorrow. Please take some time this evening to review the progress report and to sign it, as above. There is also a graphic organizer on the back that all students have been asked to complete with the assistance of a parent/guardian. It asks students to reflect on their learning and to self-identify where they are doing well, where they need to improve, and to begin to think about setting a learning goal that will help them to address any areas of need. Students can also identify what supports (either from their teacher, parents, etc.) they would need to work on this goal. I would like to discuss these goals with students and parents during our Three Way Conferences, so please ensure that these forms are returned, signed, tomorrow so that I have adequate time to review them.

Christina Gordon's first Three Way Conferences will be held on November 2nd and 3rd. These conferences provide an excellent opportunity for students, parents and teachers to meet to discuss the student's progress to date and plan ahead for future success. Three way conferences recognize that students are leaders in their own learning, and a vital person to have in the discussion about their learning. To schedule an appointment for a Three Way Conference:

Go to our website christinagordon.fmpsdschools.ca
Go to "Parents" tab at the top of our webpage and
Follow the link to "Three Way Conferences."

If you have trouble registering please call the school at (587) 276- 2017. Term 1 report cards will be sent out in early December. I do want to emphasize that I would like to see the students attending the conferences as well, not just parents. It is really important, especially as students approach the upper grades, that they be part of the discussion about their progress, goal setting, strategies, etc.

Finally, tomorrow, November 2nd, our school will be hosting a Candy Exchange. Classes will collect unopened treats and the class with the most candy collected (average per student) for the exchange will be able to trade it in for a free 30 minute DANCEPL3Y class with Ms. Marche. Our school will be using the candy to build a "Sugar Monster" community art piece that will be used as a part of an educational lesson in health classes. Please remember we are a nut sensitive school when sending in treats for the exchange or otherwise.

Many of our pen pals live on farms or acreages, so they have lots of room for animals.
