Ancient peoples used shadows to help them to tell the time. When the shadows were the shortest (at about noon) they knew that they were about halfway through the day. When the shadows were the longest (at sunrise and sunset) they knew that they day was beginning or ending, etc.

Hi ms.b I wanted to ask about math so I know what a equation is I know that additio and subtraction or siblings and same thing with multiplication and division. I also know that when you have to find big answers by using the siblings. So when your trying to find the answer you would use all of this on your page,I know when you figure out something you would write like example:f=b so then for your answer like 120 divided by 4 = b would yuo just right b=30 like I understand adding subtracting but struggling with multiplication and division.so on the page to figure out you would do all of this like figure out the answer maybe in mind, would I write 120=4xb just wondering.

Dhruvi, I'm so excited to see you thinking so deeply about Math. If you had the equation 120 = 4 x b, you could also right that equation as: 120 = b x 4, or 120 / 4 = b, or 120 / b = 4. If you wanted to evaluate the equation for b, then the equation 120 / 4 = b is the easiest to use. You can solve (120 / 4 = 30) = b, so 30 = b or b = 30. However, if it makes more sense to you to write 120 = 4 x b, you can definitely write it that way! These equations are related and b will still equal 30 no matter how you write it. Choose the equation that makes the most sense to you.
