Today was: Day 1
Tomorrow is: Day 2

This morning in Math we used our Mathletics accounts for the first time this year. All students have access to their own account that they can use both at school and at home. Mathletics is a great resource in that I can assign students extra work to be completed that matches our outcomes/curriculum. I can also differentiate what I assign based on student needs/abilities. The LiveMath feature is something that students also really enjoy and is a great tool for building basic numeracy skills.

In Social Studies today, we did watch the candidate forum for the upcoming mayoral election being held for students today at Keyano College. We didn't watch the entire event, but I wanted to watch some as it is such an important current event taking place in our community right now. Students who wanted to finish watching the forum can find it at:

https://www.facebook.com/atalocal48/

It is open to the public, so students do not need a Facebook account to view it. We also took some time today to practice our capitals. Congratulations to Riley, Keiran, Elizabeth, Sorin, Emma H. Owen O., and Zayne who beat my score of 32 seconds today, as well as Josh who tied me. I can see that many of us are ready for the quiz on Friday. Don't forget to review. Remember, students will be retaking the province side of the sheet as well so that they can try and improve. We are all about second chances and having a growth mindset this year.

In Language Arts today we reviewed what we have already been learning about nouns. Today we discussed possessive nouns. It was interesting to work together to see if we were using apostrophes correctly. Students drew pictures for me of sentences like the following:

The dog's bone.
The dogs' bone.
The dogs' bones.

As you can imagine, we got some interesting pictures. Remember, check to see if the word is plural (has s or es) as well as possessive (has and 's or '). We will continue to work with possessive nouns and using apostrophes in upcoming classes.
