Today we had our first fire drill of the year. The students and I practiced how to line up and leave our classroom beforehand, so there was no confusion. The school did not use the alarms today, so as not to upset anyone who was feeling unsure or nervous about this first drill. The students in our class did a wonderful job! I was so proud of everyone for how quickly they lined up and how well they behaved in line. Well done!

In Math, we have begun to review or 2x and 4x tables. Be sure to keep practicing at home. Remember, you can use doubling as a strategy to help find both the 2x and 4x tables!

In Language Arts today, we continued to add to the idea pages of our Writer's Notebook. Today we began working on a Treasure Map page. This page asks students to draw a map of a location that is important to them. Then, students add an X and details to the map, indicating interesting topics or events that they could write a story about. We will continue to work on this page tomorrow. To see a digital example of our Notebooks, be sure to look under the Language Arts section.

In Science today, we had a brief introduction to the Scientific Method:

We will continue to explore this topic next week. Follow our progress using the slides below. Remember, these slides will be updated as we work! To see updated slides, visit the Science section.

In Art we are currently learning about Colour and Line. Today we began a project that had students explore what happens when they use line, not just colour, to an image. Line can be used to add depth and texture to 2D images. Check out the project below; we will continue working on this project tomorrow.

Agenda
